Tamang Bon Europe, the Association for the Preservation and Cultural Exchange of the Tamang Bon Shamanic Tradition, is a Switzerland-based non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and respectfully sharing the Bon shamanic tradition of the
Tamang people.
Through workshops, talks, and cultural exchange, we bring indigenous knowledge into a living dialogue with contemporary questions of sustainability, community, and our relationship with nature.
The Association:
Tamang Bon Europe is a Switzerland-based association dedicated to preserving and respectfully sharing the endangered Tamang Bon shamanic tradition of the Himalayas.
The Bon Shamans:
At the heart of this living Indigenous tradition are the Bombos—shamans who act as healers, spiritual mediators, and guardians of ancestral knowledge. Through oral rituals, chants, and ceremonies, they preserve Tamang history, ethics, cosmology, and a worldview in which humans, nature, and the spirit world are deeply interconnected.

Today, this tradition is at risk. Because its knowledge is transmitted orally, each loss of a Bombo can mean the disappearance of unique rituals and wisdom. Modernization, cultural misrepresentation, language loss, and social stigma have severely weakened transmission to younger generations
